Soccer Game Preview: Carlisle vs. Harrisburg

The Carlisle Thundering Herd are taking a road trip to square off against the Harrisburg Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Carlisle's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for eight straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Carlisle's offense. They lost 3-0 to Penn Manor on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Carlisle can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania soccer rankings (they are ranked 336th, while Penn Manor are ranked 161st).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Harrisburg challenged East Pennsboro on Monday. The Cougars came up short against the Panthers, falling 4-0. Harrisburg haven't had much luck with East Pennsboro recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Carlisle's loss dropped their record down to 0-6-2. As for Harrisburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7-1.

Carlisle took their win against Harrisburg in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thundering Herd since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
