Football Game Preview: Caldwell Hornets vs. Bellville Brahmas

Two dominant backs in Coy Becka and Travis Turner are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Caldwell Hornets will head out to take on the Bellville Brahmas at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Caldwell has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Bellville will arrive with four straight victories.

On Friday, Caldwell took a blow against Sealy, falling 72-12. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 615th, while the Tigers are ranked 92nd).

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Bellville sidestepped Madisonville for a 48-45 win.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Turner and Jaden Simpson. Turner had a great game and rushed for 323 yards and four scores while picking up 14.7 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Simpson was balling out in the loss, rushing for 222 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.7 yards per carry.

Bellville's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Caldwell, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5-1.

Caldwell took a serious blow against Bellville in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 63-7. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Brahmas' Kendrick Turner, who rushed for 107 yards and three TDs on only 13 carries.
