District 32 league recap: 5/7/12

Ryan Mullen was on fire this week, as he led District 32 with a .394 average with seven RBIs. Meanwhile, Simon Kenton put together a 3-0 week.

Walton-Verona trails the Pioneers by just 0.50 games in the league standings, which means there could have a new first-place team by next week.

Simon Kenton boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks. The Pioneers's pitchers have been charged with only 163 hits and have struck out 144 batters. Vic Newberry is tops on the staff with 44 Ks.

Simon Kenton finished with the most hits in the league this week, adding 73 for a league-leading total of 216. Alec Smith has a team-high 28 hits on the season for first-place the Pioneers, which went 3-0 this week.

Mullen led the league with 13 hits this week for Simon Kenton. On the season, he's hitting .315 and ranks second in the league with 28 hits.
