Basketball Recap: Wooster Colts vs. South Tahoe Vikings
There's no place like home for the Wooster Colts, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past South Tahoe 53-50. That's another feather in the cap for Wooster, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Wooster's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamal Gaitor, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Marquicias, who scored ten points along with four steals.
South Tahoe's loss on Friday came despite strong showings from Phil Adina and Ryder Tannaci. Adina scored 25 points along with five rebounds, while Tannaci scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Adina has scored all season.
Wooster has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. As for South Tahoe, they now have a losing record at 11-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wooster will challenge the Railroaders at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Sparks focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for South Tahoe, they will head out on the road to face off against the Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Truckee comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
