Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Reno). They enjoyed a cozy 66-50 win over the Damonte Ranch Mustangs on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Huskies sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
Reno's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Violet Gordon led the charge by going 9 of 11 on her way to 21 points and eight rebounds. Gordon's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brookesly Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards.
Reno was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Damonte Ranch only racked up nine assists.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jazmine Monges, who posted 15 points in addition to five assists and five steals. The dominant performance gave Monges a new career-high in points. Mya Ghisletta was another key player, putting up 17 points and six rebounds.
Reno pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.
