Softball Game Preview: Elkhorn Elks vs. Union Grove Broncos

The Elkhorn Elks will head out on the road to face off against the Union Grove Broncos at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Elkhorn is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Elkhorn fell victim to Oconomowoc and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raccoons. The Elks' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Elkhorn saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ellie Jacobson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Union Grove came out on top against Muskego on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Broncos walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Warriors.

Ciara Hage spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on McKenna Bones, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. River Jamison was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Union Grove is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Elkhorn, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.

Elkhorn suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Union Grove when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Elks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
