Volleyball Recap: West Clermont Comes Up Short

If West Clermont was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Kings last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. West Clermont came up short against the Walnut Hills Eagles on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Wolves have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meetings.

The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-10, 25-18.

Zander Bentley paced West Clermont's offense, picking up four kills. Bentley got some help from Jordan Michael Pack and his five assists. Bentley also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Isaac Brosch, racking up two apiece.

Walnut Hills' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Benjamin Smith led the charge by getting three digs and two aces. What's more, Smith posted four kills, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Jacob Gillotti was another key player, getting three aces.

West Clermont now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Walnut Hills, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Clermont will host Taylor at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Walnut Hills, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Centerville at 6:30 p.m. on April 1.
