League recap: Canastota extends winning streak with victory over Waterville/Madison Central

Canastota extended the longest winning streak in Section 3 Class C - South this week by beating Waterville/Madison Central, 20-13. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

The Indians moved up to 455 from 551 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 20-13 win over Waterville/Madison Central helped Waterville/Madison Central improve its standing.

Devven Ferris was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 10 carries, he ran for 211 yards as Sherburne-Earlville bested LaFayette/Fabius Pompey. Austin Jasper also contributed to the rushing game with 86 yards on the ground.

Sherburne-Earlville's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Marauders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Matt Smith has thrown for 264 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Ferris has seven catches for 124 yards. Ferris leads the league in rushing with 431 yards.

Morrisville-Eaton/Hamilton took down New York Mills 34-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
