Baseball Recap: Salisbury Takes a Loss

Salisbury extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-17. They lost 17-0 to the West Rowan Falcons. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2018.

As for West Rowan, they pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Considering they have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For West Rowan's part, Dylan Carter made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Carter a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

In other batting news, Lucas Watts was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Carter Durant, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Salisbury will welcome North Rowan at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cavaliers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.39 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for West Rowan, they will head out on the road to take on North Iredell at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
