Basketball Recap: McCormick Find Success

Saluda came into Saturday's game looking for another win against McCormick, but Daruis Houston wouldn't allow it. The McCormick Chiefs walked away with a 55-47 win over the Saluda Tigers on Saturday thanks in part to Houston, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 23 points and five steals. The matchup was his fifth in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Ma'Tydrieon Wideman, who posted six points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those three steals gave him a new career-high.

The victory got McCormick back to even at 5-5. As for Saluda, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McCormick will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. McCormick is facing South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind at the right time seeing as South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind is stuck on a four-game losing streak. Saluda also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against McCormick at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
