Softball Recap: Claysburg-Kimmel Extends Home Winning Streak to 19

Claysburg-Kimmel had won 19 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 11-0 to make it 20. They put the hurt on the West Branch Warriors with a sharp 13-1 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won seven matches by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Harlee Harcolerode, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Bella Francona was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Claysburg-Kimmel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Branch only posted an OBP of .222.

As for West Branch, the defeat snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 9-2 record. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this contest were averaging 2.09 runs allowed.

On West Branch's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cheyanne Bush, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.

Coincidentally, Claysburg-Kimmel and West Branch will both be playing Mount Union the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will host the Trojans at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Warriors will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
