Baseball Recap: Sultana's Winning Streak Snapped at 16 Games

Sultana dropped their record down to 20-3-1 on Thursday, which also ended the team's 16-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Apple Valley Sun Devils by a score of 2-1. The Sultans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Sun Devils earlier this season, when they won 7-4.

Sultana saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isac Gamez, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Apple Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

On Apple Valley's side, Andrew Wilson looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Looking ahead, Sultana will square off against Quartz Hill at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Sultans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Royals have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. Apple Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
