Baseball Recap: Perry Wins Going Away Against Ridgemont

The matchup between Perry and Ridgemont on Thursday hardly resembled the 4-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Commodores put the hurt on the Golden Gophers with a sharp 14-8 victory. The Commodores might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Wesley Woods looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Colten Scott, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Sylas Johnson, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Perry kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Perry and bumps their season record up to 5-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Ridgemont, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Perry will look to defend their home field on Monday against North Baltimore at 5:00 p.m. As for Ridgemont, they will venture away from home to challenge Ada at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
