Basketball Recap: Eli Shwaikeh Key Part of Team Effort in Trojans Win

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Harnett Central on Wednesday. They strolled past the Gray's Creek Bears with points to spare, taking the game 57-38. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Trojans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Harnett Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Eli Shwaikeh, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 18 points. Kemaury Haywood was another key player, putting up seven points along with six boards and five steals.

Gray's Creek's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quion Andrews, who posted 11 points. Andrews also posted a block, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Deago Smith, who had nine points.

Harnett Central's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Gray's Creek, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Gray's Creek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-52 loss against Douglas Byrd on the 5th. Hopefully Harnett Central paid attention to the Bears' matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
