Baseball Game Preview: Massabesic Mustangs vs. Windham Eagles

The Massabesic Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the Windham Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

South Portland hit Massabesic with a six-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs came up short against the Red Riots, falling 10-3. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Massabesic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Bryan, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

Meanwhile, Windham lost 11-1 to Bonny Eagle on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly ten runs.

Cayden McCartney was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Massabesic's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2-1. As for Windham, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Everything went Massabesic's way against Windham when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Massabesic made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
