Basketball Recap: Windermere Prep Piles Up the Points Against Four Corners

With a playoff win on the line, Windermere Prep rose to the challenge on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Four Corners Coyotes 80-36. Given the Lakers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Coyotes are ranked 325th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Windermere Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alayiah Johnson led the charge by going 7-for-8 to rack up 15 points and eight steals. Windermere Prep is 13-1 when Johnson posts three or more steals, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jazlyn Bowman, who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine boards.

Windermere Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Four Corners only racked up seven assists.

Four Corners lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Lauren Jorda, who posted ten points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Briana Carrion, who scored eight points and six boards.

Windermere Prep has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.1 points over those games. As for Four Corners, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Windermere Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 61-52 victory against Lake Highland Prep on the 8th. Four Corners does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
