Recap: Stafford Indians vs. Massaponax Panthers
The Stafford Indians lost against the Massaponax Panthers back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Stafford suffered a tough 28-7 defeat at the hands of Massaponax. Stafford has struggled against Massaponax recently, as their matchup on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Among those leading the charge was Donavan Phillips, who rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Malik Turner-Gutierrez was another key contributor, rushing for 58 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
Stafford has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Massaponax, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-4.
Stafford will head out on the road to face off against Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mountain View will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. As for Massaponax, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Riverbend at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Virginia (Riverbend is ranked 42nd, while Massaponax is ranked 56th).
