Baseball Recap: Redlands East Valley Comes Up Short

After flying high against Vista del Lago last Saturday, Redlands East Valley came back down to earth. Redlands East Valley fell just short of the Beaumont Cougars by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 9-6 to the Cougars when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Caleb Jamroz was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Aiden Mccartin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alan Gibbons, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

Redlands East Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. Beaumont moved to 2-9 with that win, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Redlands East Valley is set to face off against their familiar foe Citrus Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Beaumont will take on rival Redlands at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
