Basketball Recap: Hockinson Takes a Loss

Hockinson lost against Mark Morris back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hockinson Hawks were dealt a 77-42 defeat at the hands of the Mark Morris Monarchs. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while the Monarchs are ranked 56th).

Hockinson has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for Mark Morris, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Hockinson will face off against Columbia River at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Columbia River has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 221 points over their last three matchups. As for Mark Morris, they will challenge Washougal at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Washougal knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Mark Morris likes a good challenge.
