Basketball Recap: Wilson Prep's Run of Six Straight Victories Now Over

It was fun while it lasted, but Wilson Prep's undefeated season came to an end after six games on Saturday. They lost to the Knightdale Knights on the road by a 56-40 margin. The matchup marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Wilson Prep lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Janiya Johnson, who posted five points and 16 boards. That's the most rebounds Johnson has posted since back in January. Paris Best was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Even though they lost, Wilson Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Ayomide Adewumi continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Knightdale, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. With that strong performance, Adewumi is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was Ja'Kiyah Moore, who put up eight points and nine rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Wilson Prep fell to 6-1. As for Knightdale, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilson Prep will square off against KIPP P at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Wilson Prep is facing KIPP P at the right time seeing as KIPP P is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Knightdale, they will host Apex at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
