Baseball Recap: Bishop Canevin's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Two

Bishop Canevin won the last time they faced Clairton and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Crusaders never let the Bears get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by ten runs or more this season.

Brady Wagner and Layne Gerba were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Wagner pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Gerba didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. At the plate, Wagner went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Gerba went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Wagner has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nate Astor, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Bishop Canevin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clairton only posted a batting average of .167.

The victory made it two in a row for Bishop Canevin and bumps their season record up to 7-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Clairton, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Bishop Canevin will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bears: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
