Basketball Recap: Takoma Academy Takes Down King's Christian Academy in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Takoma Academy had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 54-37 victory over the King's Christian Academy Eagles. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Destini Shorts, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards. Shorts is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexa Buckley, who posted six points and 12 boards.

Takoma Academy's victory bumped their record up to 19-6. As for King's Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Takoma Academy has already played their next game, a 53-50 defeat against Clinton Grace Christian on the 22nd. As for King's Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Carroll Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
