Newman Smith had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.8 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Eastern Hills Highlanders 68-38. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 195th, while the Highlanders are ranked 1055th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eastern Hills' loss came despite strong showings from Brandon Williams and Lamarcus Stewart. Williams posted eight points and six rebounds, while Stewart put up six points and six boards. Cameron Brown also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first board of the season.

Newman Smith's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Eastern Hills, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-10.

Coming up, Newman Smith will be taking part in a tournament against Austin Prep Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans will need to watch out since the Avengers have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Eastern Hills, they will head out to face off against Cleburne at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
