Softball Recap: Martha's Vineyard Regional Comes Up Short

Martha's Vineyard Regional had lost ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-6 to make it 11. They fell just short of the Boston English Eagles by a score of 16-14. The Vineyarders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 18-10.

As for Boston English, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games.

For Boston English's part, the team relied heavily on Alba Rodriguez, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI Rodriguez has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Michelle Pinales, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Martha's Vineyard Regional will face off against Brockton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Boston English, they will square off against Brooke at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
