Baseball Recap: Manteo Has No Trouble Against Cape Hatteras

After only two runs in their last game, Manteo made sure to put some runs up on the board against Cape Hatteras on Saturday. The Manteo Redskins blew past the Cape Hatteras Hurricanes 21-6. The Redskins have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hurricanes, too.

Nemo Govan made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Govan was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs.

In other pitching news, Jacob 'JD' Perry looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Landon Saywer was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Drew Brown was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Manteo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cape Hatteras only posted an OBP of .346.

Manteo now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Cape Hatteras, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Manteo is headed away from home for the first time to face off against Northside - Pinetown at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cape Hatteras, they will host Manteo at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
