Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Syracuse). They blew past the Granger Lancers 79-45 on Friday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 50-22.
Syracuse got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Beckam Rees out in front who went 6 for 9 on his way to 18 points. The dominant performance gave Rees a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Hoenigman, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 10 points and three steals.
Syracuse was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.
Mason Biddulph and Will Tidwell certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Biddulph dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards, while Tidwell went 6 of 11 on his way to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Benson Turcsanski, who posted six points.
Syracuse's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Granger, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Syracuse and Snow Canyon will round out the year against one another at at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Snow Canyon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.3 points per game this season. As for Granger, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Taylorsville at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
