Softball Game Preview: Beecher Bobcats vs. Lincoln-Way East Griffins

The Beecher Bobcats will take on the Lincoln-Way East Griffins at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Beecher will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

Beecher is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Pontiac, who was ranked 24th at the time (Beecher was ranked 20th). The Bobcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Indians on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bobcats have posted since April 14th.

Ava Lorenzatti spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Makenzie Johnson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Ava Olson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Lincoln-Way East suffered their closest loss since May 16, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Andrew by a score of 5-3. The loss was the Griffins' first of the season.

Beecher's win was their 25th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-0. As for Lincoln-Way East, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 16-1.

Beecher took their victory against Lincoln-Way East when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0 score. Do the Bobcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Griffins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
