Basketball Recap: Serena Takes a Loss

After flying high against Woodland on Thursday, Serena came back down to earth. The Serena Huskers came up short against the Lexington Minutemen on Friday, falling 70-48. While losing is never fun, the Huskers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 473rd, while the Minutemen are ranked 149th).

Leading Lexington to victory were Bo Stutzman and Tyler Steffa. Stutzman posted nine points and six rebounds, while Steffa went 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Coffman, who had nine points.

Serena's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Lexington, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.

Serena wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 71-65 loss against Reed-Custer on the 27th. As for Lexington, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 81-61 win against Hall on the 27th.
