Softball Recap: Starmount Drops Highest Score of Season Against Elkin

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Starmount). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Elkin Buckin' Elks a 17-0 shutout on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Rams needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Starmount's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6. As for Elkin, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Starmount will take on South Stokes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Stokes has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.14 runs per game on average), something Starmount will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Elkin, they will venture away from home to face off against Alleghany at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Elkin is facing Alleghany at the right time seeing as Alleghany is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
