Softball Recap: Rio Hondo Prep Takes a Loss

Rio Hondo Prep dropped down to 7-3 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 9-2 to Mission Vista. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Kares have suffered since May 6, 2025.

Rio Hondo Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was ALLIE SCOTT, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Mission Vista, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games.

On Mission Vista's side, Madison Garrett was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was Garrett's first of the season. Leah Houser was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rio Hondo Prep will head out to challenge La Salle at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The Kares will need to watch out since the Lancers have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests. As for Mission Vista, they will venture away from home to take on Madison at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Mission Vista's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warhawks have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season.
