Basketball Recap: Dillon Triumphs

Purnell Swett came into Wednesday's contest looking for another win against Dillon, but Treasure Davis wouldn't allow it. The Dillon Wildcats came out on top against the Purnell Swett Rams by a score of 52-45 on Wednesday thanks in part to Davis, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Dillon's points.

Another player making a difference was Ayonna Lester, who posted six points in addition to nine boards and four steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

Dillon's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Purnell Swett, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.

Dillon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 54-34 win against Red Springs on the 20th. After both having extra time off, Purnell Swett and Cape Fear will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
