After flying high against New Deal last Friday, New Home came back down to earth. The New Home Leopards lost to the Abernathy Antelopes at home by a 51-33 margin on Tuesday. The Leopards' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Mecailin Marshall was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds for Abernathy. That makes it three consecutive games in which Marshall has scored at least a third of Abernathy's points. Kendal Miller was another key player, putting up eight points.

New Home's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-7. As for Abernathy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season.

New Home and Abernathy should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. New Home (ranked 111th) will meet Ralls (ranked 993rd) at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. New Home will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Meanwhile, Abernathy will square off against New Deal at 6:15 p.m. on Friday up 329 places (75 vs. 404).
