Football Recap: Hallsville Comes Up Short

If Hallsville was riding high fresh off their 52-14 takedown of Jacksonville last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bobcats were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 21-20 to the Nacogdoches Dragons. Surprisingly, this marked the Bobcats' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Nacogdoches' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Micah Lockett, who picked up 139 receiving yards and two scores. Lockett's receiving production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 139 receiving yards. Rj Whitaker also helped out as he racked up 100 receiving yards.

Hallsville dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Nacogdoches, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Coincidentally, Hallsville and Nacogdoches will both be playing Whitehouse the next time they take the field. The Dragons will host the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Bobcats will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on the 24th.
