Volleyball Recap: St. Mary's Ryken Takes a Loss

St. Mary's Ryken lost against Elizabeth Seton back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Knights fell just short of the Roadrunners by a score of 3-2. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, St. Mary's Ryken sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 21-25, 25-22, 19-25, 15-8.

Despite the defeat, St. Mary's Ryken saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Emma Brashear had 29 digs and four aces. Those 29 digs set a new season-high mark for Brashear.

St. Mary's Ryken's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Elizabeth Seton, with the victory, they broke their three-match losing streak and moved their record to 4-8.

St. Mary's Ryken wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against The Academy of the Holy Cross on the 9th. As for Elizabeth Seton, they will square off against Bullis at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
