Basketball Recap: Blue Ridge Takes a Loss

Blue Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Yellow Jackets of the 52-39 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2022.

Yuma Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amanda Wiley, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Wiley also posted a 63% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sadie Estes, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards.

Blue Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 9-17. As for Yuma Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.

Blue Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Yuma Catholic, they will take on Coolidge at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Coolidge will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Yuma Catholic surely won't give up without a fight.
