Recap: Lyons Lions vs. DSST: Cedar Falcons
After flying high against the Clear Creek Golddiggers last Friday, the Lyons Lions came back down to earth. Lyons took a 46-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of DSST: Cedar on Monday. Lyons found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 24 to 16 on offense.
Lyons lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gemma Powell, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and three steals. Powell is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Marley Chase was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds and five blocks.
Katelyn Fortune continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for DSST: Cedar, dropping a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fortune has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Amaya Paul, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and six steals.
Lyons now has a losing record at 5-6. As for DSST: Cedar, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season.
Lyons won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Merino at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Merino will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
