Volleyball Recap: Westover Christian Academy Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If Westover Christian Academy was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of C.H. Friend on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs fell just short of the New Covenant Gryphons by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gryphons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Westover Christian Academy took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 19-25, 20-25, 25-21, 15-10.

Mollie Lackey paced Westover Christian Academy's offense, picking up 14 kills. Lackey got some help from Grace Woodard and her 26 assists. Damaris Chilton controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

New Covenant was led to victory by Embry Carlton and Lydia Williams. Carlton had 15 digs and one assist, while Williams had eight digs and three aces. That's the most digs Carlton has posted since back in October of 2024.

Westover Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for New Covenant, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Westover Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Virginia Academy on the 23rd. As for New Covenant, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Richmond Christian on the 22nd.
