Baseball Recap: South Knox Takes a Loss

South Knox extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-9 in the process. They fell 6-1 to the Washington Hatchets. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hatchets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Washington, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games.

For Washington's part, the team relied heavily on Alton Ostby, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Ostby a new career-high.

Looking ahead, South Knox will look to defend their home field on Monday against Loogootee at 5:30 p.m. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Washington, they will head out on the road to challenge Vincennes Lincoln at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The Alices will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Hatchets surely won't give up without a fight.
