Rival Solon (Iowa) executes 2-point conversion in overtime to end nation's longest winning streak.

Solon (Iowa) stunned rival Regina (Iowa City, Iowa) on Friday night, coming away with a thrilling 29-28 victory.

Solon head coach Kevin Miller made the call to go for the win rather than the tie in overtime, after Regina scored with the first possession in the extra frame.

Trailing 28-27, Solon quarterback Brandan Childs took the snap and scrambled to his right. He somehow squeezed a pass to a falling Connor Ham, who made the grab before the ball hit the ground.

The refs signaled touchdown, and Solon's bench stormed the field to celebrate.

The loss ended Regina's remarkable 56-game winning streak, which was tied for the longest in the country among 11-man football teams heading into last night. That means that Ithaca (IMich.) stands alone at 57 now.

It was a bit of poetic justice for Solon: Regina ended Solon's 42-game winning streak when the teams met in 2010.
