Baseball Recap: Unioto's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Unioto came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Paint Valley Bearcats. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 on April 7th.

Blake Sanders spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Unioto's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jaxon Zickafoose, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Zickafoose is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Unioto's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Paint Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-10-1.

Unioto wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 13-3 defeat against Bishop Watterson on the 26th. As for Paint Valley, they have also already played their next contest, a 7-6 win against Westfall on the 28th.
