Football Game Preview: JW North Huskies vs. Vista del Lago Ravens

The JW North Huskies will venture away from home to challenge the Vista del Lago Ravens at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. JW North has given up an average of 41.3 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

JW North is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight games on Friday. They had to suffer through a 52-14 loss at the hands of Orange Vista. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 646th, while the Coyotes are ranked 176th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vista del Lago). In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 55-54 win over Paloma Valley.

A big part of Vista del Lago's victory came down to the chemistry between Josiah Dupree-Boyd and his top target Jae'Lynn Brown. Dupree-Boyd threw for 451 yards and four TDs while completing 76.7% of his passes while Brown picked up 341 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Those 451 passing yards gave Dupree-Boyd a new career-high. Vista del Lago also got a significant boost from EJ Mayhand-Souvenier, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 90 yards.

Vista del Lago's record now sits at 6-3. As for JW North, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

JW North suffered a grim 42-21 defeat to Vista del Lago when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
