Basketball Game Preview: Port Allegany Gators vs. Otto-Eldred Terrors

Port Allegany hasn't had much luck against Otto-Eldred recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Port Allegany Gators will venture away from home to take on the Otto-Eldred Terrors at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Port Allegany is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Austin: they outscored them in every quarter. Everything went Port Allegany's way against Austin on Tuesday as Port Allegany made off with a 66-43 victory. The Gators haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Jarrod Funk continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 24 points and 15 rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in boards. Isac Amell was another key player, going 7-for-9 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.

Port Allegany smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Otto-Eldred put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Coudersport 59-19. Given the Terrors' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Falcons are ranked 384th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Otto-Eldred pushed their record up to 22-0 with the victory, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season. As for Port Allegany, their record now sits at 13-9.

Port Allegany came up short against Otto-Eldred when the teams last played on Thursday, falling 45-40. Can Port Allegany avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
