Baseball Game Preview: Dallas Dragons vs. Corvallis Spartans

Dallas hasn't had much luck against Corvallis recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Dragons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Dallas is returning to their home field after beating Central on theirs, despite the fact Central has dominated at home this season. The Dragons came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 5-2 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Corvallis hadn't done well against West Albany recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Spartans walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Bulldogs.

Roy Bannister was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned run off ten hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Bannister wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Axel Prechel, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Andrew Street was another, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Corvallis is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Dallas, their victory bumped their record up to 17-6.
