Baseball Recap: Litchfield Terriers vs. Morenci Bulldogs
Litchfield extended their losing streak to eight on Monday, dropping their season record down to 4-11 in the process. They came up short against the Morenci Bulldogs, falling 18-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 28-7 on Monday.
As for Morenci, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-11-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 23.0 runs over those games.
For Morenci's part, Jonas Castillo made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Castillo also tossed a walk, which is notable because Morenci is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-10-1 otherwise. Castillo was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Wyatt Stevens was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
