Basketball Recap: Manatee Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Manatee extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-7. They came up short against the Poinciana Christian Preparatory Eagles, falling 85-63. While losing is never fun, the Hurricanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 471st, while the Eagles are ranked 145th).

As for Poinciana Christian Preparatory, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-4. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Poinciana Christian Preparatory's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Allan Calo led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with nine points and nine assists. Calo is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Demarion Harris, who shot 75% from the field en route to 15 points.

Manatee will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Parrish Community at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2026. As for Poinciana Christian Preparatory, they will be taking part in a tournament against University at 8:30 a.m. on the 29th. The Titans have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
