Basketball Recap: Salina Comes Up Short

Salina was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost to the Locust Grove Pirates on the road by a 69-52 margin. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Locust Grove's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cayson King, who went 9-for-18 en route to 22 points in addition to five assists and three steals. King is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zander Messer, who went 6-for-9 to rack up 15 points along with five assists and three steals.

Salina's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Locust Grove, their record now sits at 7-13.

Salina has already played their next match, a 44-40 win against Jay on the 11th. Locust Grove has also already played their next contest (against Grove), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
