Basketball Recap: Central Falcons vs. Helena Huskies
If Central was riding high fresh off their 58-26 takedown of Bibb County last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Central Falcons took a 52-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Helena Huskies on Thursday. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2017.

Despite the loss, Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Michal Steward posted nine points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. With that strong performance, Steward is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyashia Stanton, who put up 12 points and six rebounds.
Central has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season. As for Helena, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.
Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 38-30 defeat against Clay-Chalkville on the 20th. As for Helena, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 77-47 loss against Central on the 20th.
