Basketball Game Preview: Fond du Lac Cardinals vs. Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts

The Fond du Lac Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Thursday, Fond du Lac was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 85-80 to Oshkosh North. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (76), the Cardinals still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Kaukauna had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.1 points) and they went ahead and made it 13 on Friday. They took down the Papermakers 98-79. Given the Galloping Ghosts' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Papermakers are ranked 158th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fond du Lac's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Kaukauna, they pushed their record up to 20-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Fond du Lac lost to Kaukauna on the road by a decisive 59-41 margin in their previous meeting back in January. Can Fond du Lac avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
