Softball Game Preview: FAMU DRS Baby Rattlers vs. Franklin County Seahawks

The FAMU DRS Baby Rattlers will head out on the road to take on the Franklin County Seahawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. FAMU DRS hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

FAMU DRS came up short against Altha on Tuesday, falling 18-2.

FAMU DRS saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Ammons, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1. Another was Tania Rivas, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Franklin County). They were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over Wewahitchka two weeks ago. The victory continues a trend for the Seahawks in their matchups with the Gators: they've now won three in a row.

Sarah Ham made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, Franklin County let Micahlyn O'Neal and Alexis Webb run wild. O'Neal went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and four RBI, while Webb went 1-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. That's the most RBI O'Neal has posted since back in April of 2024. Peyton Jones also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Franklin County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.

FAMU DRS' defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Franklin County, their record now sits at 8-3.
