The Ohatchee Indians will be taking part in a tournament against the Munford Lions at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Ohatchee: 3.3, Munford: 1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
If Ohatchee beats Munford with six runs on Saturday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Ohatchee sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over Jacksonville on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.
Meanwhile, while Munford put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Central of Clay County. Everything went Munford's way against Central of Clay County as Munford made off with a 9-0 victory. Considering the Lions have won three games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brooklyn Pressley (2027) and Madison Arnold (2028) made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Pressley (2027) didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Arnold (2028) pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Pressley (2027) has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Pressley (2027) went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Arnold (2028) scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Arnold (2028) also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ashtyn Bishop (2027), who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Tayla Marlow (2025) was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.
Munford hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in five consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Ohatchee's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Munford, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Ohatchee skirted past Munford 2-1 when the teams last played last Friday. Will Ohatchee repeat their success, or does Munford have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
